Police also recovered 68 weapons, including a handgun. Those figures should not be minimised. There was criminal behaviour at Carnival and the police mounted a very substantial operation to deal with it.But neither should the figures be exaggerated. The official police account records two knife assaults, not “about six” stabbings.WHAT ABOUT THE CLAIM ABOUT MULTICULTURALISM?Hopkins goes beyond reporting crime.Immediately after referring to the alleged stabbings, she asks:“How do you like that multiculturalism now, my little Notting Hill poshos?”That is a political interpretation rather than a conclusion established by the crime statistics. The Metropolitan Police figures tell us how many arrests were made, what types of offences occurred and what weapons were recovered. They do not establish that multiculturalism caused those crimes.Indeed, the Met said that the vast majority of people attending Carnival came to celebrate and enjoy themselves. Its assessment at the end of the event was that the two days had passed “largely without incident”, while acknowledging the arrests and individual incidents of violence. It is perfectly legitimate to debate the policing, safety and social impact of Notting Hill Carnival. It is also legitimate for Hopkins to express her opinion about multiculturalism. But presenting individual crimes as evidence that multiculturalism itself is responsible for those crimes is an interpretation — not something demonstrated by the police statistics.CONCLUSIONKatie Hopkins is right that there was crime and knife violence associated with the 2026 Notting Hill Carnival. But her statement that there were “about six” stabbings is not supported by the Metropolitan Police’s final account. The Met recorded two assaults with knives — one stabbing and one slashing — neither resulting in life-threatening injuries. Her subsequent comment about multiculturalism is her political interpretation of those events. The police evidence does not establish a causal connection between multiculturalism and the crimes she describes.VERDICT: MISLEADINGSOURCESMetropolitan Police — “UPDATE: Notting Hill Carnival policing operation”, final update 1 September 2026.The Metropolitan Police confirmed 636 arrests during the policing operation and 68 weapons recovered. It reported two assaults with knives — one stabbing and one slashing — neither resulting in life-threatening injuries.
