Police also recovered 68 weapons, including a handgun.Those figures should not be minimised. There was criminal behaviour at Carnival and the police mounted a very substantial operation to deal with it.But neither should the figures be exaggerated.The official police account records two knife assaults, not “about six” stabbings.WHAT ABOUT THE CLAIM ABOUT MULTICULTURALISM?Hopkins goes beyond reporting crime.Immediately after referring to the alleged stabbings, she asks:“How do you like that multiculturalism now, my little Notting Hill poshos?”That is a political interpretation rather than a conclusion established by the crime statistics.The Metropolitan Police figures tell us how many arrests were made, what types of offences occurred and what weapons were recovered.They do not establish that multiculturalism caused those crimes.Indeed, the Met said that the vast majority of people attending Carnival came to celebrate and enjoy themselves.
